Victim of NYC Antisemitic Train Attack Lights Hanukkah Candle in Brooklyn
December 17, 2025 BROOKLYN, New York – A victim of a recent antisemitic attack on a New York City train lit the fourth Hanukkah candle Wednesday evening at Rutland Road and East 49th Street, turning the public menorah lighting into a symbolic act of resilience following the attack.
The candle lighting took place outside Kingsbrook Shul and was held as part of a community Hanukkah gathering. Organizers said the victim’s participation was meant to publicly affirm perseverance and visibility in response to antisemitism.
