ICE Field Office in Manhattan Evacuated After Suspicious White Powder Found
August 14, 2025 – MANHATTAN, New York – The Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE field office at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan was evacuated Thursday afternoon after envelopes containing a suspicious white powder were discovered inside the building, according to authorities.
Emergency crews, including hazmat teams, responded to the scene and began investigating the substance. Officials say there are no reported injuries.
Mayor Eric Adams confirmed the incident in a post on X, writing, “New Yorkers, I have been preliminarily briefed on the matter unfolding at 26 Federal Plaza where envelopes containing white powder were discovered.”
The building remains closed while the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet released details about the origin or nature of the substance.
