Gunman Fatally Shot After Firing Upon Jersey City Officers in Patrol Cars – NEW JERSEY

September 05, 2025 Jersey City, New Jersey – On Friday afternoon, Jersey city police shot and killed a gunman who opened fire on four officers who were patrolling in their marked vehicles, cops said.

According to officials, the shooter fired upon multiple marked police vehicles, a Jersey City Police sergeant arriving for back up returned fire after taking gunfire to his squad car and gravely wounded the suspect who later died at an area hospital.

Two police cruisers were damaged by gunfire, but no officers were injured during the seemingly random attack on John F. Kennedy Boulevard near Clinton Avenue that occurred at around 1:20 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident along with the Attorney General’s Office that is also investigating the fatal officer-involved shooting.
