FDNY Veteran Firefighter Patrick Brady Dies Battling Brooklyn Blaze
November 9, 2025 Brooklyn, NY – FDNY firefighter Patrick Brady, 42, died Saturday night while battling a major blaze in Brownsville, officials confirmed.
Brady, an 11-year veteran of the department, reportedly went into cardiac arrest while working on the roof of a six-story apartment building on Kings Highway around 9:38 p.m. Fellow firefighters and EMTs performed emergency treatment before transporting him to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Mayor Eric Adams called Brady’s death a “selfless act of service,” adding, “He gave his life protecting this city that he loved. There is no sacrifice more profound than the one made tonight.”
Early Sunday morning, hundreds of firefighters gathered outside Brookdale Hospital to honor Brady. His flag-draped body was carried out by eight fellow firefighters in a solemn transfer to the medical examiner’s office. Adams and FDNY members stood at attention and saluted as the ambulance departed.
