7 FDNY Firefighters Hurt After Bronx Car Explosion Sends Fireball Into Sky
November 5, 2025 – BRONX, New York – A fiery car explosion injured seven New York City firefighters Wednesday evening in the Bronx, according to officials.
Crews were battling a blaze near Intervale Avenue and Kelly Street in Longwood when a vehicle suddenly erupted, sending a burst of flames and smoke into the sky around 7 p.m., the FDNY said.
Three firefighters were taken to Jacobi Hospital, while four others were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Residents nearby reported hearing a loud boom followed by a towering column of fire that lit up the block. Investigators are working to determine what caused the explosion.
