Yeansoo Go, Episcopal Priest’s Daughter RELEASED from ICE Custody in NYC
August 4, 2025 – NEW YORK, NY: Yeonsoo Go, a 20-year-old recent graduate of Scarsdale High School, was released from ICE custody Monday evening after being held for five days.
Her detention began last week following a visa-related immigration hearing. Public outcry grew in the days that followed, including rallies organized by faith leaders and immigration advocates.
Congressman Mike Lawler was reportedly involved in efforts leading to her release.

Faith leaders, immigrant advocates, and community members gathered outside 26 Federal Plaza on Saturday morning to demand the release of 20-year-old Yeonsoo Go.
Go, a Korean immigrant and the daughter of Episcopal priest Rev. Kyrie Kim, was detained by ICE following a routine immigration hearing. The incident has sparked outcry from local clergy and immigrant rights groups, who held a public vigil and prayer gathering in response.
Attendees called for compassion and due process, some visibly emotional as they offered prayers and stood in solidarity with Yeonsoo and her family.
