Two People Killed in Plane Crash at Long Island MacArthur Airport

July 22, 2024 RONKONKOMA, New York – Two people were killed after a small private plane crashed Monday evening in Ronkonkoma, New York, police said.

There were two men on board the aircraft who died in the crash at Long Island MacArthur Airport, police said.

Detective lieutenant Kevin Beyrer with the Suffolk County Police Department said during a press conference that a witness observed the plane take flight before returning to the airport for a unknown reason where the plane crashed near the runway.

The crash was reported at around around 6:15 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Authorities have yet to release the victims identities and the investigation into the cause of the fatal plane crash is ongoing.
