Two NYPD Officers and Suspect Shot in Brooklyn
January 15, BROOKLYN, New York – Two NYPD officers were shot Tuesday afternoon around 3:20pm, responding to a domestic assault case at an apartment near Bergen St & Saratoga Ave in Brownsville, Brooklyn, police said.
According to police officials, during a struggle over an officer’s service weapon with 39-year-old suspect Melvin Butler, Mr. Butler was allegedly able to fire an officers gun while resisting arrest. One officer was shot in the hand and the other officer struck in the leg, said NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny during a press conference at Kings County Hospital.
Police officials say that one of the officers shot the suspect multiple times including in the leg and stomach.
The suspect was hospitalized for serious injuries sustained during the incident and officers were transported to Kings County hospital with non life threatening injuries.








The investigation into this shooting is currently ongoing.
