Tear Gas, Explosions and Standoff Outside Portland ICE Facility During ‘No Kings’ Protest
October 18 2025 PORTLAND, OR: What began as a large, peaceful march through downtown Portland turned tense by nightfall as hundreds of protesters gathered outside the federal ICE Detention Facility during the nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations.
Federal agents clashed with demonstrators outside Portland’s ICE Detention Center on Saturday night during the second part of the nationwide “No Kings” protest, as tear gas, pepper balls, and arrests marked hours of Confrontations.
Multiple videos posted by @ScooterCasterNY show federal agents advancing toward anti-ICE protesters, releasing tear gas and pepper-ball rounds to disperse the crowd.
Footage depicts protesters covering their faces as gas fills the street and agents in tactical gear push forward. The confrontation began after a part of large afternoon rally downtown moved toward the ICE compound in the South Waterfront area.
Several protesters were detained as federal Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) agents rushed the crowd.
The situation escalated into a standoff, with demonstrators chanting “Jump! JUMP!” and “F-ICE!” as some banged skateboard on the barricades, later throwing plastic water bottles as agents threw munitions.
The night ended with federal agents clearing the street. ScooterCaster later shared an image of a camera covered in chemical residue from pepper spray and gas.
One woman received medical attention after what some described as a fall, while others alleged she was struck during the altercation.
