‘No Kings’ Protests Sweep the U.S., With Major Turnouts in NYC and Portland
October 18 2025 NEW YORK, NY and PORTLAND, OR: Thousands gathered in cities across the United States for the nationwide “No Kings” protests, a coordinated day of demonstrations opposing what organizers described as authoritarian overreach under President Donald Trump’s administration.
Crowds filled Times Square before marching south toward Union Square Park, chanting “No Kings, No Crowns, Just Constitution.” NYPD reported 100,000 people filled the streets citywide.
In Portland, Oregon, thousands marched across the Hawthorne Bridge in solidarity with the national call for limits on executive power.
Tensions escalated later near the federal ICE detention site.
