Suspected Shelter Slasher Shot by NYPD Officers After Foot Chase in Brooklyn
March 29, 2025 BROOKLYN, New York – Police responding to a 911 call of an assault, shoot a man accused of slashing another person inside a Men’s shelter in Flatbush, Brooklyn, late Friday evening.
According to NYPD officials, responding officers briefly chased the 29-year-old for about two and a half blocks and discharged their service weapons on 21st Street, striking the suspected slasher at least twice.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries and is expected to survive, cops say.
During a press conference, details of the shooting incident were released, stating that the suspect made “multiple intentional movements, like he has a firearm, charges our police officer in a full sprint” NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said.








A sharp cutting instrument was located by NYPD investigators at the scene. Police say the suspect has four prior arrests and convictions for assault along with a gun charge.
As of Saturday morning charges are pending a full investigation.
