Shots Fired During Attempted Robbery at Brooklyn Post Office

June 30, 2025 – Brooklyn, New York – Shots were fired inside a post office at 1288 Coney Island Avenue in Midwood, Brooklyn, during an attempted robbery Monday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

Police say the incident happened around 1:13 p.m. when a man entered the post office and pulled out a firearm. He allegedly pointed the gun at a 37-year-old woman — the only customer inside at the time — and demanded cash from the employees.

The suspect fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene on a motor scooter. He later crashed and was apprehended by police.

No injuries have been reported. The investigation is ongoing.
