Protesters Outside CBS Studios After Colbert Firing, Call Move “Collaboration with Fascism”

July 21 2025 MANHATTAN, New York – A crowd gathered Monday outside CBS Studios in Manhattan to protest the network’s cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

At one point, a woman said she was going inside to deliver a message to the CEO, but the doors were locked. Protesters held their signs to the glass and slipped some through the cracks. Organizers later announced that a CBS producer told them Colbert had heard about the protest and was proud.

The group called the cancellation “collaboration with fascism,” pointing to a Truth Social post from Donald Trump celebrating Colbert’s removal and suggesting Jimmy Kimmel could be next.

Protesters said they were standing up for dissenting voices in media and pushing back against political influence over who gets to speak on air.
