Protesters Block Midtown Traffic to Disrupt Trump’s Entry to UNGA – Dozens Arrested
September 23 2025 MANHATTAN, New York – On Tuesday morning during the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York City, protest groups blocked three key intersections in Midtown Manhattan, to interrupt the arrival of President Trump and other dignitaries. The actions resulted in dozens of arrests.
The protests occurred at intersections including East 46th Street & Third Avenue, 57th Street and near East 42nd Street & 2nd Avenues, key routes for UN access.
Demonstrators included climate activists from Extinction Rebellion, Pop Climate, 50501, Rise and Resist as well as groups calling out Trump’s climate, foreign, and security policies.
In one instance, protesters unfurled a banner reading “The world deserves better” and chanted slogans linking fossil fuel policy to global risk while impeding traffic.
