Mass Arrests Outside ICE Building at Federal Plaza During Anti-ICE Protest
August 8, 2025 – Manhattan, NY —
Multiple arrests were made Friday outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building at 26 Federal Plaza during a demonstration against the agency’s detention practices.
The protest, organized by anti-ICE activists, included a street blockade in front of the federal building. Demonstrators called for access to individuals they said were being detained on the building’s 10th floor. Among those participating were several faith leaders, who reported being denied entry to the facility while attempting to conduct welfare checks on detainees.
Video from the scene shows protesters sitting in the street holding banners and signs with messages critical of ICE. Some carried flowers, while others displayed placards with slogans such as “ICE is Trump’s Gestapo” and “Eyes on ICE.” The demonstration prompted a police response, and officers were seen taking individuals into custody after they refused orders to clear the roadway.
