Child Survives Fall from Balcony at High Rise Building in East Harlem – NYC

February 23, 2024 MANHATTAN, New York – A 7-year-old boy fell three stories and landed on a 9th-floor ledge just outside another residents window Friday morning in Harlem, NYC.

According to police, at around 11 a.m., a young boy was on a 12th floor balcony playing when he lost his footing and fell to a 9th-floor terrace below.

The young boy was transported to Metropolitan Hospital with non life threatening injuries and last listed in stable condition, police said.

The boy was conscious and alert but visibly shaken when 31-year-old Jalil McCall carried the boy to safety, said Briana McCall who’s brother ran out of their mother’s apartment to help the child.

“My step brother was dropping something off and he was in the living room, like fixing something in the kitchen and then he heard the thump.” Briana McCall said.

“He just ran out and just reacted. So, he’s really in shock, he’s really shaken up right now.” McCall said.

The incident occurred at a 14-story apartment building on East 131st Street near Harlem River Drive.
