70 Pro-Palestine Columbia University students ARRESTED after OCCUPYING Butler Library on Campus
May 7, 2025 – MANHATTAN, New York: Over 100 students have OCCUPIED Columbia University Butler Library, stating “THE BASEL AL-ARAJ POPULAR UNIVERSITY has just launched, reclaiming BUTLER LIBRARY FOR THE PEOPLE”.
Clashes and ARRESTS at the doors of occupied library. According to protesters they are asking to show student ID inside if they want to leave, otherwise face arrests.
A massive police line cleared out 114th Street and Broadway outside of Columbia University as protesters blocked the passage of NYPD busses full of those arrested from within Butler Library on the Campus. They arrested one
The crowd of Pro-Palestine protesters outside of Columbia University then began to march in the street around the University.
Dozens of students were arrested by police after the President of the University said she had requested the help of the NYPD in removing the protesters from the building.
