16-Year-Old Girl Shot Dead Outside Bronx School
May 12, 2025 BRONX, New York – A teenage girl was fatally shot in a school yard outside a Bronx school building Monday afternoon, cops said.
At around 5 p.m., police in the 42 precinct responded in regard to a confirmed teen girl shot in the head near Union Ave & Home Street in the Morrisania neighborhood.
Upon arrival officers located a 16-year-old female victim who was rushed by EMS to Lincoln Hospital, with life threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead, cops said.
According to police, students from Bronx Latin High School allegedly got into a physical altercation that turned violent when one of the students brandished a gun and fired at least three rounds striking a 16-year-old innocent bystander in the head.
The teen girl who is not a student at Bronx Latin was not involved in the fight and attended neighboring Morris High School, cops said.

No reported arrests at this time. Police are searching for suspected 14-year-old shooter, described as having curly hair with blue shorts, no sneakers, no shoes, wearing a gray sweater, fled towards Home Street.






Incident was reported in the rear of Bronx Latin I.S. 158, located at 800 Home Stwhere the building houses three schools inside including, the Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School, Bronx Latin, and Bronx College and Career Preparatory High School.
