11-year-Old Missing, Mother in Custody at Hospital in Brooklyn
October 3, 2025 – BROOKLYN, New York: Police are searching for 11-year-old Jacob, reported missing from his family’s apartment on Howard Avenue in Brownsville after a welfare check requested by the city’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS).
Officials said ACS contacted police around 1:30 p.m. Thursday asking for a wellness check on Jacob and his mother. When officers arrived, Jacob was not present. His mother was taken to Brookdale University Hospital for evaluation.
Police brought in a K-9 cadaver dog as part of the search. According to law enforcement sources, the dog indicated on a refrigerator for human blood, but Jacob was not located inside the home. Investigators continue to search the area.
Authorities have not confirmed when Jacob was last seen. WPIX reported, citing sources, that he may have been missing for as long as three weeks.
ACS spokeswoman Marisa Kaufman said the agency opened its investigation “as soon as this family came to our attention.” Officials at the Howard Avenue property management company said they were “deeply concerned by the events unfolding in our community” and pledged to cooperate with authorities.
Police are continuing their investigation with support from ACS and other city agencies.
