Woman Seen in Anti-Israel Incident Now Charged with Assaulting Police with Pepper Spray in Times Square
July 02 2025 MANHATTAN , NEW YORK — A 19-year-old woman, Dana Baraket, was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly pepper-spraying two NYPD officers and attempting to grab one of their firearms in Times Square, according to law enforcement sources.
The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. near Broadway and 47th Street. Police say Baraket approached the officers and sprayed them in the eyes and face with a chemical substance. She reportedly attempted to seize one of their service weapons while repeatedly yelling at the officers to shoot her.
Baraket was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities charged her with assaulting a police officer, attempted robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment, and criminal possession of a noxious matter.
Both officers were transported to a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition
Baraket had previously gained public attention in October 2023 after being filmed removing posters related to Israeli child hostages on the Upper West Side. The posters had been displayed following the Hamas-led attack on Israel.
