Times Square PACKED With Police ahead of Possible Pro-Palestine Protests and NYE Celebrations

December 31 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – Times Square is packed with police and special PD and anti terrorism units as the city prepares for NYE Celebrations.

Police and city has stepped up their security this year, adding even more force and extanding the “freeze zone” perimeter.

People were let in this morning through vigorous security check, they will be waiting for hours until tonight, without a chance to exit and come back.

Police officials say that there are no credible or specific threats against Times Square, however they are prepared for possible demonstrations over the Israel-Hamas war.

Last year, a man with a machette attacked an NYPD officer in Times Square security checkpoint.

It happened just blocks away from New Year’s Eve Ball drop celebrations, as officers conducted security checks in Times Square.

Law officials said they were investigating if the man who allegedly attacked the officers had previously posted ‘jihadist writings’ online and traveled to New York City to target police,as reported by NBC News New York

Incident reported shortly after 10pm on the Saturday night, two hours before the New Year.

Police say a 19-year-old lone suspect from Maine, struck three officers with a machete, during a security check on West 52nd Street and 8th Avenue. It’s at this point when a back up NYPD officer fired their service weapon, hitting the suspect in the shoulder, officials said.

The officers were rushed to nearby city hospitals and all three are listed in stable condition.

The wounded suspect was also transported to an area hospital. And this attack has been investigated by the FBI, according to state authorities there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Officers were taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment, suspect was also rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead according to scanners, however preliminary reports by police say suspect is alive and was shot in the shoulder.

Another cop was hit by a police car while moving the barricades on 52nd and Broadway to let responding officers get to the scene
