Three People Shot in Queens, including Off-duty Corrections Officer

July 3 2022 Queens, New York – Reports of three people shot, one of the victims off-duty corrections officer, according to scanners. Incident occured at Jamaica Ave & 214th Place around 20:18pm within 105th precinct in Queens.

The off-duty correction officer said he saw a man point a gun at a crowd of people on the corner and open fire, hitting a car at Jamaica Avenue.

The officer fired his gun at the man, hitting him multiple times,police said.

Another gunman fired at the officer, hitting him once in the leg, officials said.

Gunman and off-duty corrections officer was taken to a local hospital, both expected to survive, police said.

According to online reports, there was a third man who was also shot in the gunfire.
