Suspect in Hazmat Suit Kills Upper East Side Deli Worker During Alleged Robbery

March 04, 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – NYPD detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a elderly store worker near 3rd Avenue and E 81st Street in the UES of Manhattan, on Friday evening, cops said.

According to police officials, around 11:30 p.m., a 67-year-old man and Deli worker was shot inside of Doana Gourmet Deli during an apparent robbery. The victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was declared dead at the scene, near 3rd Avenue and E 81st Street on the Upper East Side, cops said.

Detectives are searching for suspect, who was described to be wearing a hazmat suit and a white mask during the alleged crime.

The hazmat suit wearing perpetrator fled the scene riding a scooter southbound on 3rd Avenue, police said.

No arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
