Sen Salazar Team Assists Migrants at NYC Federal Court, As Multiple Detainees Dragged Away in Handcuffs
July 3 2025 MANHATTAN, New York – NY State Senator Julia Salazar says her team was threatened with arrest by ICE agents inside NYC Federal Plaza today.
She says ICE detained a migrant man whose court date was rescheduled due to lack of a translator:
“A gentleman’s court date was rescheduled because a translator was not available. ICE didn’t care, dragged him away anyway, and threatened to arrest my team.”
Court proceedings began late; most migrants remained inside until the court closed for lunch. Around 1PM, federal agents began detaining individuals, dragging some from the closed court area.
City Council members stood at the entry of the waiting area, attempting to block the detentions.
