NYPD Fatally Shoot Man Armed With Gun Outside NYCHA Building in East Harlem – NYC

August 25, 2024 MANHATTAN, New York – Police shooting leaves male suspect dead after incident outside the George Washington Houses NYCHA Building early Sunday in East Harlem, NYC. 

The incident occurred just after 12:30 a.m., after police responded to 911 calls of a man with a gun near 103rd Street and 3rd Avenue

Upon arrival, officers encountered a 62-year-old man holding a gun. The armed individual was given commands to drop the firearm but did not comply. 

According to police officials, officers discharged their service weapons striking the male multiple times. The wounded suspect was rushed to an area hospital and  was pronounced deceased. 

A gun recovered at the scene with no other individuals involved are outstanding at this time. The investigation into the fatal police shooting remains ongoing.
