Mahmoud Khalil Leads Pro-Palestine March in NYC Days After ICE Release
June 22, 2025 – Manhattan, NY – Just two days after being released from ICE detention on bail, Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist and Columbia University graduate, led a Pro-Palestine march from the gates of Columbia University in Manhattan on Saturday.
Khalil was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for 104 days, after being arrested in March in the lobby of his Manhattan apartment building. ICE alleges that Khalil misrepresented information on his green card application, a charge his legal team strongly disputes. He was transferred over 1,000 miles to the LaSalle ICE facility in Louisiana.
He was released on June 20 after U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz ruled that his continued detention violated his constitutional rights and that he posed no flight risk or danger. ICE was ordered to return his passport and green card, though immigration proceedings remain ongoing.
