Incendiary Device Tossed into West Village Smoke Shop Sparks Explosion in Possible Arson Attack – NYC

December 03, 2025 MANHATTAN, New York – Just after 3 a.m., a west village smoke shop was hit by a possible arson attack after a device tossed through a Christopher Street business window caused an explosion, cops said.

According to police, a group of about six people were seen on surveillance video throwing a type of incendiary device into a smashed shopfront window. 

NYPD bomb squad was on scene to investigate the incident with FDNY to determine the type of object that caused an explosion and left debris scattered on the sidewalk.
