“CLIMATE CRIMINALS” Activists TAG Citibank Windows in Manhattan as Part of Global Action

April 24 2023 MANHATTAN, New York – Extinction Rebellion activists spray painted City Bank Windows is lower Manhattan as part of Global Day of Action demanding banks stop financing fossil fuels.

Extinction Rebellion activists were arrested for painting Citibank on Pine St & Broadway with red chalk paint. Group says Citibank is the world’s 2nd biggest fossil fuel funder, pumping $333B into the sector since 2016.

“Citi pumped over $800 million into ConocoPhillips, the company involved in the Willow oil drilling project in Alaska. It has funded controversial methane gas (LNG) projects in Texas and Louisiana, which the local communities oppose” Extinction Rebellion explained.

Some of global banks have made major policy changes on fossil fuels. HSBC announced it was
ending funding for new fossil fuel projects, while Danske Bank said it would stop financing oil and gas projects and corporate financing.
