UPDATED: 29-year-old Shot in Staten Island

December 31 2021 Staten Island, New York – A shooting occurred on New Year’s Eve just after 7:30 p.m. NYPD police officers received an unconfirmed report of a person shot in Staten Island.

UPDATED: According to NYPD officials when officers arrived at 1251 Bay Street in the Rosebank neighborhood it was confirmed that a 29-year-old male was fatally wounded and not a 9-year-old child like initially reported by police scanners.

Additional units were requested to assist at the scene to shut down traffic at New Lane & Bay Street and according to police officials

EMS rushed the critically injured 29-year-old man to Staten Island University Hospital where he was pronounced dead by staff.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
