4-Year-Old Boy Dies From Likely Fentanyl Exposure at NYC Shelter

March 05, 2025 BROOKLYN, New York – A 4-year-old boy has been pronounced deceased after fighting for his life due to parents allegedly exposing the child to Fentanyl at a NYC shelter.



According to AMNY reports, the child’s parents were suspected of Fentanyl use when police were alerted to the incident and discovered the young boy who apparently ingested some of the illegal substance and was in dire need of medical attention.

The incident was reported at the Women in Need Inc. Shelter in Flatlands neighborhood in Brooklyn at around 8:40am Tuesday morning.

NYPD took the two adults into custody for questioning with charges pending a full investigation which is ongoing.

A spokes-person for the shelter said they are “devastated that a child in one of our shelters has been hospitalized. We are working closely with the NYPD to support their ongoing investigation. We remain committed as ever to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all families that call a Win shelter home “
