3 Hospitalized After Bronx Apartment Fire in Co-op City

March 26, 2022 | BRONX, NY: Around 5:00 a.m. Saturday, three people were injured and hospitalized following a Bronx apartment building fire, FDNY officials said. Upon arrival firefighters observed a fire on the seventh floor and requested additional units due to the size of the building.

According to officials, emergency crews responded to 100 Erskine Pl in the Co-op City section of the Bronx for a fire in a seventh floor unit of the apartment building. Authorities said a high volume of clutter in the home made extinguishing the blaze difficult for fire crews on scene.

Three people were injured as a result of the fire and transported by EMS to a nearby hospital. The three individuals were last listed in serious condition, said authorities.

We spoke with Mark Abraham, a resident in the building who told FNTV he saw victims on stretchers being taken out the elevator by rescue crews on the CCTV camera channel provided to all tenants.

“My wife woke me up and said, look, look, there’s fire in the building. So I looked and said, Something’s wrong. So I turn it to the channel for the building, We have a channel that we can look into the building to see what’s going on. So I tuned in to the channel, and I saw them bringing bodies out of the elevator. So when I saw that, I just woke up and said let’s go. We started dressing up the kids I just woke up and I said, Let’s go. We started just not the kids.”, said Abraham

Building management allowed residents to reenter the apartment building around 9 a.m. Saturday morning. The investigation into the official cause of this fire incident is ongoing.
