14-Year-Old Boy Shot and Killed at NYCHA Building – BROOKLYN

June 02, 2024 BROOKLYN, New York – Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a teen boy found in a Brownsville apartment building on Sunday morning, cops said.

According to police, 14-year-old Jasai Guy was killed after being shot in the chest in a fifth floor unit at the Howard Houses NYCHA complex around 10am, in Brooklyn.

The teen boy was rushed by first responders to Brookdale Hospital, but could not be saved and was pronounced deceased, officials say.

We spoke with a person that lives in the building who talked with us under anonymity due to them also knowing the family.

The resident stated the 14-year-old boy was allegedly shot in the chest by his 12-year-old male cousin while the two were playing with a firearm.

When police brought the 12-year-old out the building the resident said the boy was was crying and saying outloud “I didn’t mean to do it, I didn’t mean to do it” as officers walked him to a police vehicle.

According to police officials, as of a Monday June 03, the 12-year-old cousin who allegedly shot his older cousin on accident was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and criminal possession of a weapon.

The incident occurred at around 10:25 a.m., on 80 Osborne Street in the Brownsville neighborhood in Brooklyn.
